More About Steve Franks
Steve was born and raised in Orange County, California, and earned a BA in English from University of California, Irvine, in 1991. While he was finishing his education, he also did stand-up comedy and fronted the popular Orange County band, the Friendly Indians. Though he was a graduate student of Loyola Marymount University, studying in the film department, Steve's career was really launched when his first screenplay "Big Daddy" was bought by Columbia Pictures as a screenplay for Adam Sandler. "Big Daddy" went on to earn more than $160 million domestically. After this great success, he went on to create and work on more than a dozen other film projects, including "Skiptracer" for Sony Pictures, and a feature version of "I Dream of Jeannie."
Regarding television, he has been involved in multiple projects for ABC, CBS, and NBC. A fan of funny and light detective shows like "Moonlighting" and "Magnum P.I.," Steve created a character who shares a similar personality. A psychic detective was brought to mind, and thus Psych was born. That was eight years ago, and he now resides in Orange County with his wife and two children.
